McCarney Patrick (Pat), formerly of 47 Main Street, Fintona BT78 2AG. Died peacefully in Hillcrest care home on Wednesday 28th July 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Celine (nee McAtee). Treasured father to Vincent (Tish), Denise, Ann (Dele), Paula, Celine (Paul), Patrick and Aiden (Julie). Devoted grandfather to Carleen, Connor, Celina, Jay, Ryan, Corey, Dylan, Alayna, Finnián, Orlagh and Sean and great grandfather to Naoise, Conall and Tomás. Brother of the late Patricia Clarke. Pat will leave his daughter Paula’s residence 27A Carnalea Road, Fintona BT78 2HP at 10.25am on Saturday 31st July 2021 for 11am requiem mass in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona, followed by his burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish to show a presence along the funeral route, Pat will travel from the Carnalea Road along Church Street, Main Street, Tattymoyle Road and Lisdergan Road to arrive at St Lawrence’s Church for 10.55am. In light of the Coronavirus and in the interests of health and safety within the community, the house will be private with social distancing being adhered to at the funeral. Family Flowers only please and donations in lieu kindly accepted for Dementia NI c/o McAtee Funeral Directors. Alternatively, the funeral mass may be viewed via the Donacavey parish webcam. Deeply regretted by his loving sons, daughters, daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and entire family circle. Our Lady pray for him.

Uncle Pat was always a larger than life figure on our home visits in the early 1960’s, probably most memorable when we used the caravan a Bundoran for a week by the sea. Pat took me to see the doctor in Omagh so that eveyone else could stay on the coast. AS I remember it, he drove me everywhere to see everyone and then back to Bundoran. A few years ago he told me that we never got to the doctor as he fell asleep after a long visit with one of his friends.
Then there were the Saturday evenings around the TV when I visited in the 1970’s, all the McCarneys and me, enjoying a good movie after Celine had fixed up a great dinner.

Uncle Pat, Aunt Peggy and myself shared many laughs, drinks and dances together with Pat always ending the evening with “ My Way”. He was a special person who loved his family and many friends. I will miss him dearly when I visit Fintona.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad’s death, which Una just told me about…Pat was quite a man. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to sit down and have a chat with him Sept. 2015 (when I was home for my brother Dominic’s 60th). He was his usual chatty self, telling me many stories about his trips around Ireland, to the US plus other places. You could tell he was very proud of all his family. My family loved staying at his caravan in Bundoran in our early years, in fact, mum and I babysat for him one week! Pat was our go-to for most of our groceries and was very supportive towards my parents by helping delivering the goods etc. We thank your dad for all he did in this regard. May Pat be at peace now…Anne and Mc Carron family.

Very sorry to read of “uncle Pat’s” demise. I remember meeting Pat on one of my early trips to Fintona through Aunt Celine. He was larger than life at the time. Later, on one of my rare visits to Ireland, we had shared many private conversations over a few beers and of course he would get up and sing his best rendition of My Way.
