Baby Cahán Francis Cassidy born sleeping on

Thursday 11th August 2022.

We, Kevin and Dervla, and our family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to everyone, for their kindness and understanding on the recent loss of our beautiful, precious baby son Cahán. We would especially like to thank our immediate family for their unwavering support and care, especially over the past month. Your love for us and Cahán means everything, and we will never forget everything you did for us and our darling son. Thank you to our extended family, dear friends and neighbours for their steadfast presence during this devastating time. It was a great source of comfort to us all. We would also like to acknowledge all those who paid their respects in any way. We have been humbled by the huge number of people from far and wide who have reached out to us since our sad news broke. Thank you to those who sent Mass or sympathy cards and flowers, and to those who left messages online or via social media. Thank you to those who sent meals or offered to help in any way. Your kindness will always be appreciated.  Thank you to those who lined the funeral route. We were truly touched by this. Also a sincere thank you to those who joined us at Cahán’s Mass of the Angels. We will forever deeply appreciate those who stood with us during our hardest goodbye to our perfect little boy.

A special word of thanks to Father Seán Mulligan for his spiritual support in the hospital and at home, and for the comforting Mass of the Angels. We were truly moved by the beautiful words and sincere compassion shown towards Cahán and ourselves. We take great comfort from the memory of such a special and personal Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan Mary and everyone who assisted with the Mass, especially our musician James McShane and his accompaniment, who provided the beautiful music. Again we will never forget each song and the comfort they brought to us during our deep sadness. Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out. Pat, nothing was ever too much to ask and we appreciate so much how you guided us at a time when we needed much support. Thank you also to the grave digger Tommy for preparing Cahán’s final resting place and to Sheenagh for the beautiful flower arrangements.

Our sincere thanks to the midwives in the South West Acute Hospital who cared so well for Cahán and Dervla. We can never speak highly enough of the team of special women who cared for us so dedicatedly and went above and beyond to make our few short days with Cahán so special. We appreciate all you did, from your medical expertise to the many times you sat with us and shared in our grief. We will treasure the very precious memories you gave us with Cahán until we meet him again.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.

Cahán’s Month’s Mind Mass will be held on Friday 23rd September at 7.30pm in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona.

A short time in our arms,

A lifetime in our hearts.

Our baby was born sleeping, our baby is wrapped in love, our baby is being cared for by angels up above.
