Mary Shields,
Foremass, Sixmilecross, Co Tyrone.
Died 12th November 2025.

We, the family of the late Mary, wish to extend our deep gratitude and warmest thanks to everyone who offered their condolences, prayers, and support during our recent sad bereavement. Mary was widely respected and is sadly missed. Devoted wife of Liam, adored mother of Rosemarie, Catriona, Michelle (Kevin), PJ, Susanna and Anita, much loved grandmother of Gráinne, Piaras, Callum, Ciarán, Clodágh, Emily, Brendan and Seán, and a very dear sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.

Thank you to everyone who called to our home, helped in the kitchen or brought food, this was greatly appreciated.  A special word of thanks to local businesses for their generosity.  Our thanks also to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, flowers or donations in lieu, lined the funeral route and to those who joined us at the Requiem Mass. Thank you to the staff and pupils of St Brigid’s Primary School, Altamuskin for organising the guard of honour.

Thank you to PD Coaches for providing the transport and all those who assisted with car parking.  Heartfelt  thanks to all our supportive neighbours for organising and managing everything.  We are blessed to have had the love and support of our community, the best neighbours, friends, colleagues and extended family, throughout this difficult time, this has helped us in so many ways to grieve and find strength together as a family.

A special mention of gratitude to Very Rev Father Michael O’Dwyer P.P. for his spiritual support and the very comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to everyone who took part in the Liturgy and Bronagh Broderick who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.

Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravediggers for preparing Mary’s final resting place. To Roisin of Nettles and Petals for the beautiful floral tributes and to Vincie and the staff of Canavan’s for providing the excellent and most welcome refreshments after the burial.

Finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all the health care professionals who helped care for Mary.  We are so very grateful for the kindness shown to our Mammy and all your care, assistance and support which allowed us the privilege of being able to care for her at home. Thank you also to Paul, Mark and the staff of Tallon’s Pharmacy, Sixmilecross for their help during Mary’s illness.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our family’s sincere gratitude and utmost appreciation.

Mary is loved and missed every day. May her gentle, generous, kind soul be granted peace and eternal rest.

Her Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Dunmoyle on Saturday 13th December at 11am. Our Lady pray for her.
