Lily McDermott,
Omagh, Co Tyrone.
Died 22nd January 2026.
We, the family of the late Lily, wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered their condolences, prayers, and support during our recent sad bereavement. Lily was the devoted wife of Kevin, adored mother of Mary (Tommy), Paddy (Sheila), Elana (Kieran), Paula and Bernie (Damian), a much loved grandmother and great-grandmother and a dearly loved sister, sister in law, aunt and friend, and was widely respected by all who knew her.
Thank you to everyone who called to the wake in our home, helped or brought food, this was greatly appreciated. Our thanks also to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards,
messages, flowers, or donations in lieu, and to those who lined the funeral route, or joined us at the Requiem Mass.
We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, throughout this difficult time, this has helped us in so many ways to grieve and find strength together as a family.
A special word of thanks to Father Seán Mulligan P.P. for his spiritual support and for celebrating such a beautiful and meaningful requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and to everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and our musicians Noleen Neill and Oisin Kearlin, who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Lily’s final resting place. Also to Mary of Howe’s Flowers for the beautiful floral tributes, and to the St. Patrick’s Hall ladies for providing the most welcome refreshments after the burial.
And finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all the health care professionals with whom Lily came into contact, especially the District Nursing Team, the Lakeland Carers and the staff of Ward 1 in the South West Acute Hospital. We are so very grateful for all your care, help and assistance and for the kindness and respect shown to our mum.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.
Lily is loved and greatly missed every day. May her gentle, kind, generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. Her Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Friday 27th February at 7.30pm. Our Lady pray for her.
