Acknowledgement – Lawrence (Orney) McConnell, formerly of Duncan Park, Fintona, Co Tyrone. Died 25th April 2024.
The family of the late Orney would like to express our deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for, and supported us through our recent sad bereavement. Orney was a widely respected gentleman, and dearly loved brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend.
We would like to acknowledge all those who paid their respects in any way. Thank you to those who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, or flowers, and to those who left messages online or via social media.
Thank you to those who called to the wake house, helped, brought food and to those who lined the funeral route or who joined us at the funeral Mass.
Sincere thanks to all our relatives, neighbours and friends who helped us in so many ways throughout this difficult time.
A special word of thanks to Father Seán Mulligan CC for his spiritual support and the comforting requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and the St Lawrence’s choir who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Orney’s final resting place. Thank you also to the St Patrick’s Hall ladies for the very welcome refreshments after the funeral.
And finally, we send our grateful thanks to the staff of the South West Acute Hospital, who cared so well for Orney and to all the medical professionals with whom he came in to contact.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.
Orney is loved and missed everyday, may his gentle, generous, kind soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Saturday 25th May at 6pm. Our Lady pray for him.
