Acknowledgement – Barney McSorley, formerly Dromore Road, Fintona, Co Tyrone. Died 19th June 2024.
The family of the late Barney would like to express our deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for, and supported us through our recent sad bereavement. Barney was a widely respected gentleman, beloved husband of the late Mary, dearly loved father of Siobhán, Caroline (Eric), Donna (Mark) and Aidan (Rosie), devoted grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend.
We would like to acknowledge all those who paid their respects in any way. Thank you to those who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, or flowers, and to those who left messages online or via social media.
Thank you to those who called to the wake house, helped, brought food and to those who lined the funeral route or who joined us at the funeral Mass.
Sincere thanks to all our relatives, neighbours and friends who helped us in so many ways to grieve as a family.
A special word of thanks to Father Seán Mulligan CC for his spiritual support and the comforting requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and our singer Louise Coyle who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Barney’s final resting place. Thank you also to Sheenagh of Bumble Bee Garden for the beautiful floral tributes and to McAtee’s Bar & Restaurant for the very welcome refreshments after the funeral.
And finally, we send our grateful thanks to all the staff of the Knockmoyle Lodge Care Facility, Omagh, who cared so well for Barney. Your excellent care, professional support, warmth, and diligence will never be forgotten.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.
Barney is loved and missed everyday, may his gentle, generous, kind soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Friday 19th July at 7.30pm. Our Lady pray for him.
