Acknowledgement – Barney McGaughey, formerly of Church Street, Fintona, Co Tyrone. Died 27th October 2024.
We the family of the late Barney would like to express our deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for, and supported us through our recent sad bereavement. Barney was a widely respected gentleman, adored father of Allison, Barney, Terence and the late Andy and David. Father in law of Paul. Devoted grandfather and great grandfather. Dearly loved brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
We would like to acknowledge all those who paid their respects in any way. Thank you to those who sent Mass cards or sympathy cards, and to those who left messages online or via social media.
Thank you to those who called to the wake in Grianan House Funeral Home, helped or brought food. We are particularly grateful to Marie Hamilton for all her help througout the wake. Thanks also to those who lined the funeral route or who joined us at the funeral Mass.
Sincere thanks to all our relatives, neighbours and friends who helped us in so many ways to grieve as a family.
A special word of thanks to Father Sean Mulligan C.C. for his spiritual support and the very comforting requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers; Paul and John McSorley and Barney, and our singer Louise Coyle who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Barney’s final resting place. Thank you also Roisin of Nettles and Petals for the lovely floral tribute and to McAtee’s Bar and Restaurant for the very welcome refreshments after the funeral.
We send our grateful thanks to all the medical professionals with whom Barney came into contact, especially the GP, district nurse and carers in Hillsborough who helped out in the last few months. We are very grateful for the kindness and care shown to Barney.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.
Barney is loved and missed every day, may his gentle, generous, kind soul be granted peace and eternal rest. Barneys Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Saturday 7th December at 10am.
Our Lady pray for him.
