Dessie Sheridan, Omagh, Co Tyrone.
Died 19th June 2026.
The family of the late Dessie would like to express our deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for, and supported us during our recent sad bereavement. Dessie was a widely respected, and valued member of the local community, but primarily he was a devoted family man. Beloved husband of Anne, adored father of Caroline (Niall). Julie (Marcus) and Jason (Jane), dearly loved grandfather of Orla, Abbie, Conor, Aaron, Hannah, Lucy, Alesha and his 4 great grandchildren. Much loved brother of Bridget, Seamus, Mickey, Pat, Rosaleen, Eugene, Nora, Dermot and the late Maureen, and a much loved uncle and friend to many.
Thank you to everyone who called to the wake in Grianan House Funeral Home, sincere thanks to those who brought food and to those who gave so generously of their time to serve food and tea, your kindness and support were truly appreciated. Our thanks also to those who telephoned, sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, flowers or donations in lieu for NI Chest Heart & Stroke. Thank you to those who lined the funeral route or who joined us at the Requiem Mass, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us.
We are blessed to have had the love and support of our extended family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, throughout this difficult time, this was greatly appreciated and has helped us to find strength to grieve together as a family.
A special word of thanks to Rev. Father Malachy Gallagher for his spiritual support and the very comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and our singer Mollie McKeever and her accompanist Damian Cullen, who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music, which added so much to the funeral service.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Ciaran for preparing Dessie’s final resting place. Also to Roisin of Nettles & Petals for the beautiful floral tribute, and to Farley’s for the most welcome refreshments in Tattyreagh GAC Club Rooms after the burial.
And finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to the Emergency Services, for the kindness and respect shown to Dessie and our family.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.
Dessie is loved and missed every day. May his passionate, kind, generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church, Drumragh, on Sunday 19th July at 10.30am. Our Lady pray for him.
