Mary O’Neill,
85 Garvallagh Road Fintona, Co Tyrone.
Died 3rd April 2026.
We, the family of the late Mary, wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered their condolences, prayers, and support during our recent sad bereavement. Mary was the beloved wife of the late James, treasured mother of Marian O’Donnell, Gabriel (late Siobhan), Margaret Meegan (Malachy), Seamus (Colleen), and the late Patricia, Declan (late Mairead), and babies Michael and Josephine. Mary was a cherished grandmother to her 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and a dearly loved sister of Patsy (Corrigan), Betty Flynn (Perth WA) and the late Tommy, Mickey, Johnny, Bridie Rafferty and Jim Campbell. Mary will be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins. She was a loyal friend to many in the neighbourhood and parish, and was widely respected by all who knew her.
Thank you to everyone who attended the wake in Grianan House Funeral Home. To those who gave their time and helped out in the kitchen during the wake, brought food and those who helped with car parking, this was very greatly appreciated. Our thanks also to those who brought/sent Mass or Sympathy cards and left messages of condolence on social media. Thank you to all those who lined the funeral route from Mary’s home and who joined us for the beautiful Requiem Mass in St Lawrences Fintona.
We are blessed to have had the love and support of many friends, neighbours and work colleagues. We also express our gratitude to those who travelled long distances from within Ireland and the UK mainland to be present with us throughout this difficult time. This has helped us in so many ways to find the inner strength to grieve as a family, we will be forever grateful.
A special word of thanks to Father Sean Mulligan P.P. for his spiritual support whilst Mary was in hospital and to Canon Noel McGahan P.P. for the comforting Requiem Mass and homily. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan, the Eucharistic Ministers, and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, gift bearers and our musicians Paschal Mc Anenly and Rory Madden who provided the beautiful, reverent and gentle music.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were organised and carried out, and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Mary’s final resting place. Our thanks also to Roisin of Nettles and Petals for the lovely floral tribute. To the wonderful volunteers at St. Patrick’s Hall for the very welcome refreshments after the funeral, we thank you for your empathy, dedication and unwavering commitment to the parish community.
Finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all the health care professionals with whom Mary came into contact with, especially the Paramedics, the staff of the Emergency Department and Ward 5 at the South West Acute Hospital Enniskillen, and all those who looked after her so well in her final days. We are so very grateful for all your care, help and assistance, and for the kindness and respect shown.
It is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude and appreciation. We are indebted to you all.
The passing of our Mother has left a great void in our lives, she will be forever in our thoughts. May her kind, generous and gentle soul be granted peace and eternal rest. Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd.
The Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Friday 8th May at 7.30pm.
God has you in his keeping, and we have you in our hearts. Peace is yours, memories are ours.
