Rose Marlow & Tony Marlow,
Dromore Lower, Eskra.
Died 10th January 2026 & 23rd December 2025 respectively.
We the family of the late Rose and Tony wish to extend our deep gratitude and warmest thanks to everyone who offered their condolences, prayers and support during our recent sorrowful bereavements. Rose was an integral part of her local community and was widely respected by all who knew her. But most of all she was the devoted wife of the late Francie and the precious mother of Sean, Gerry, Mickie, Rosie, Martin, Kevin, Christina, Damian, Anita, Fiona and the late Tony RIP. She was a loving mother-in-law and admiring Granny to her 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Tony was her beloved son who died suddenly only a few weeks before Rose. He was a much-loved brother, uncle, husband of Una and brother-in-law. Tony was a talented teacher and footballer. His standing was best reflected by the outpouring of tributes from former colleagues, pupils, GAA teammates and friends, in person as well as on social media.
Thank you to everyone who called to both wakes in Grianan House Funeral Home, and to those who brought food, served hot drinks and gave so generously of their time to help. Our thanks also to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards and flowers. A special mention to Eskra Emmetts GFC who provided a guard of honour at Tony’s funeral and to members of St Macartan’s GAC, Augher, who called at the wake and attended Tony’s funeral. A massive thanks to those who lined both funeral routes and manned road junctions on two cold winter days. Sincere thanks to those who attended both Requiem Masses in St. Patrick’s Church in Eskra.
We are grateful for the love and support of our extended family, friends, neighbours and the wider community. Your encouragement has helped our family to find strength to celebrate and give thanks for both Rose and Tony’s lives.
Our deepest thanks to Canon Noel McGahan for his spiritual guidance, words of comfort and for his personal attention to the two beautiful Requiem Masses. We are most grateful to him also for attending to Rose’s spiritual needs at home and for visiting her in hospital. A special thank you to Fr PJ Gormley, Augher, for concelebrating Tony’s Mass which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated by our family. Thanks too to Barney McNamee, the Eskra Parish Sacristan, to Caroline, the parish administrator, and to the talented singers Louise Coyle and Mark McCarroll who provided the beautiful and uplifting music in the chapel.
Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors especially Pat, for the dignified and professional manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out; and to cousin Joe Marlow for assisting at Rose’s funeral. We extend our gratitude to gravedigger Brendan for preparing both Rose and Tony’s final resting places. Our thanks also to Roisin of Nettles and Petals for the lovely floral tributes and to the Bridge Tavern Eskra for taking care of the refreshments after both funerals.
We wish to acknowledge our deep appreciation to the health professionals who cared for Rose with such dedication and kindness in Ward 6 of the South West Acute Hospital during her final weeks. Your compassionate caring makes such a difference to anxious families. We also greatly appreciate Rose’s local GP Practice who attended to her health needs over the years. Thank you also to Tony’s doctors and health workers who cared for him during his illness over many years. Our family would like to record our gratitude to the SWAH Chaplain Monsignor Peter O’Reilly and Fr Brian D’Arcy who visited and comforted Rose in hospital.
Rose and Tony will be greatly missed by us all. May their gentle, humble, kind and generous souls rest in eternal peace.
A joint Month’s Mind Mass for Rose and Tony will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Eskra on Saturday 21st February at 12noon. Our Lady of Knock and St. Anthony pray for them.
