Acknowledgement.
Bernard (Barney) Hunt, Fintona, Co Tyrone.
Died 9th July 2025.

The recent loss of our much loved Barney has left a deep void in the lives and hearts of all who knew and loved him. Barney was a widely respected gentleman, but primarily he was a devoted family man, loving husband of Colette, adored father of Michelle, Sonia, Paola, Tony, Shane, Jason, Ryan, Leona, Emmett and Anne, father in law of Sid, Stephen, Pete, Christine, Loretta, Beata, Claire, Jason, Ciara & Hugh. Much loved grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. We, his family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us through our recent sad bereavement.

Our thanks to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages or flowers, lined the funeral route or joined us at the Requiem Mass.

We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, throughout this difficult time, this has helped us in so many ways.

A special word of thanks to Father Seán Mulligan for their spiritual support and the very comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our readers, and musicians Fergal McAloon and Stevie Corrigan, who provided the beautiful reverent and uplifting music.

Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Barney’s final resting place. Also to Roisin of Nettles and Petals for the beautiful floral tributes, and to the St. Patrick’s Hall ladies for the most welcome refreshments after the burial.

And finally, we send our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all the medical professionals with whom Barney came into contact, we are very grateful for the kindness and respect shown to him.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.

Barney is loved and missed every day. May his kind, gentle, generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Laurence’s Church, Fintona on Saturday 16th August at 6pm. Our Lady pray for him.
